The New Mart Showroom Sample Sales happen on the last Friday of every month with discounts of 50-90% on a huge selection of designer clothing, jewelry, accessories, and more.
These Showroom Sample Sales have current and past season samples & overstock at wholesale and below prices. Usually, there are more than a couple of dozen showrooms participating. Each showroom has a wide-ranging selection of styles since many showrooms represent several different lines. The delight of shopping these Sample Sales is not only the steep discounts on known fashion lines, but discovering upcoming designer lines too.
During my visit, I found Cienna floral dresses that currently retail at $100- $120 at $20. Oat Jeans and pants looked to be at about 60% off retail, though all the sizing looked like small sizes. In another showroom, there were Joules outerwear samples in raincoats and puffer jackets for $40 instead of $80-$149. Joules Sweaters and dresses were $20 instead of $45-55.
British brand, Batela was seen with discounts of 50% on their beautiful quality, nautical tops. On an adjacent rack were some Italian brand capris at $20-30 instead of $100-200.
AMPR Showroom had a large group of Charles David & Nine West strappy heels & booties at $15-27 instead of $40-100. Some fabulous over-the-knee platform boots were $60 instead of $300!
The True Grit showroom was packed with shoppers! I found racks of tops, dresses, blazers, skirts and pants (S-M) at $20-60 instead of $60-160.
The Lindi showroom, Tell the Truth (Men’s), Betty Bottom, Delicate Raymond and Impulse Moda had everything at 50-60% off retail. Fashion Link showroom had a huge selection to shop as well as wall of Cashmere sweaters priced at just $60.
Unfortunately, more than a few showrooms wouldn’t let me snap images of products, pricing, or record anything. Though frustrating, everyone was super nice about it. So I tried to be respectful. I did visit about 12 showrooms, but didn’t make it to the top floors.
Chatting it up with several reps, I got a good amount of insider information. The most important one being the best months to shop… July and December. During those months, most if not ALL of the showrooms participate in the Sample Sales. They’re not busy with Wholesale Markets. Good to know!
The New Mart has smart, active, engaged security. I felt perfectly safe both inside and outside the building as well as on the street.
The Pros are:
– Designer fashions at 50-90% off.
– Great selection of brands all in one place.
– Discovering new designers and brands.
– Across the street from the CMC, near the Cooper and Gerry Buildings, so there are other sales nearby to shop.
– Snack shop in the Lobby for refueling.
The Cons are:
– No changing rooms, but I saw women trying on over their clothing.
– Sizing can be limited.
– No shopping bags are provided, so bring your own tote.
– Parking runs $12-30. So be serious, or take a couple of friends.
– Each showroom has different payment methods. Some Venmo, Apple Pay. But CASH is still king.
I walked out with a cute pair of gingham capris for $10 and an MTV vintage logo sweatshirt for only $5. I used a measuring tape to confirm fit. Both fit beautifully when I got ‘em home.
The New Mart usually list what showrooms are participating on their Social Media a couple of days ahead of time. There is also a list in the lobby to grab.
