Centanni Trattoria

September 8, 2017

We don’t dine out as much as we used to. We were getting too comfortable hitting the same old restaurants all the time. It wasn’t special anymore. Plus Hubby is one amazing cook. So we have eaten in more this last year than previous years.

Since I had a birthday coming up, we decided it was time to try out someplace new and went to a new Italian Restaurant in Burbank that is destined to become a favorite haunt.

I’m not a foodie… though I love great food. I can be just as happy with an In n Out Burger as I can be with a 4 course gourmet meal.

We initially spotted the restaurant by driving by it. Then the next day we heard about it on “The Fork Report” on KFI, with Neil Saavedra talking about it. OK… we had to go!

Centanni Trattoria is on Victory Blvd. near Olive in Burbank close to Nickelodeon, reasonably near Disney and Warners studios. The cool vibe inside is cool without being pretentious and sets the stage for a great meal. The menu isn’t over packed and offers a good selection of Italian faire from Pastas to Chicken and Salmon dinners.

I tend to be more conservative when first trying out a new restaurant sticking with what I know. I chose the Ravioli Di Zucca,… a Pumpkin ravoli in a butter, sage & parmigiano sauce. Simply fabulous! Our daughter ordered Tagliatelle a Ragu,… a homemade pasta with meat sauce…. delish! And Hubby ordered the steak special. The steak was perfectly cooked and the side of potatoes were as perfect as the steak. We also ordered a side of grilled vegetables (Fantastic !) and bought a bottle of the house Red wine after tasting it.

After our dishes were delivered, within 5 minutes we were each trying each others selection. The portions were a good size, presented nicely with no scrimping. Each dish was excellent, well balanced and we all cleaned our plates. The service was friendly and as excellent as the food.

Since it was a birthday dinner, we also got a chocolate cake dessert, but we were all so stuffed, we couldn’t finish it.

The bill was not over the top:

Bottle of house red wine $30
Steak Special $29
Ravioli Di Zucca $17
Tagliatelle a Ragu $18
Dessert $10
2 side of grilled vegetables $14
… about $120 without tip…. Very fair pricing, especially considering the portion sizes.

At one of our old time, West LA favorites, a meal like this would have run $170 + for the three of us! That would have been 10 years ago.

They do lunch and take out as well as having an extensive wine list. A great meal in a cool Italian restaurant. I really had a lovely time and we didn’t break the bank either.

They have two locations. One in the Westside and one in the Valley

117 N Victory Blvd, Burbank, CA 91506 (818) 561-4643 - Free Lot parking

You can check out their menu on their website

I hope you’ll love the place as much as we did.
