About a year ago I signed up with my neighborhoods Nextdoor. Many of you might have done so too. I have found this site to be incredibly useful.

Nextdoor is a private social network for you, your neighbors and your local community.
I have found it to be a great way to know what’s actually going on in our neighborhood. We have received good advise, network with neighbors, communicate with a city representative and the local police, post referrals for everything from Gardeners to Medical doctors.

People use Nextdoor to communicate. You can quickly get the word out about a break-in. Use it to organize a neighborhood watch, neighborhood meetings, find a good babysitters, landscaper, drycleaner, medical group, post lost & found pet notices, and most importantly learn who your neighbors are. They send out an email update for your neighborhood once a day, as well as replies to any posts you have posted or responded to. I have used Nextdoor for discussions on neighborhood traffic improvement, wildlife sightings, street repair, traffic accidents inquires and more.

Most recently I benefitted from some neighbors comparison and advice on water & electric usage.  I also learned about my city’s (Glendale) water and power app so I can monitor my daily consumption of water and power. Which though I knew about the app from my bills, I had not had it explained so well to me.

Nextdoor is incredibly useful and FREE. Good neighbors are a great asset to all of us. Get to know yours.
