Stepping Up to the Plate

June 12, 2020

I haven’t been blogging much. I haven’t been able to conjure much of anything useful, positive or informative to blog about. Between Covid and the Protests, I’ve been wiped out emotionally.

Nothing this country is facing it good. Old wounds and injustices have hurt so many, so deeply. Loss of work, financial distress, illness and not knowing what happens next… the uncertainty can be overwhelming. Add that pain to being shut off from normalcy, friends and loved ones and my positive spirit falters.

We all must try to do better, be better in all things. The status quo isn’t sufficient anymore.

So when I heard a favorite local Spanish restaurant, Casa Cordoba was opening up, we went as fast as we could to enjoy their delicious food and be supportive.

Truly, we can’t really afford to eat out with no work or income for the last 3 months. But we went anyways. Finding some level of normalcy and supporting a local business seemed more important than being financially frugal. I don’t think we have enjoyed a night out as much in years. The food was marvelous and the service felt extra special.

I’m sure many of you have been experiencing the same feelings. But taken actions, however small, can help make you feel better and make things better for others. We all must step up to the plate now and swing. Hanging back, not participating is not an option with a positive outcome.

So we will keep swinging, doing our very best to help small businesses and help you save money. Helping others is good for everyone… and there is joy in that.

While we step into recovery, try to be kinder to one another and support your local businesses.
