The Joy of Bargain Shopping

It isn’t just about saving money. For avid bargain hunters it’s also about beating the system and knowing you can ALWAYS find what you need for less without giving up on quality.

There’s a lot of comfort and power in that simple idea.

Open Open Open that BargainsLA Notice

I get a heck of a lot of email. I spend at a least an hour and sometimes 2 hours, on email every day. I use several different email addresses. A few addresses for consumer / BargainsLA information, one for general shopping and one vague address so I can research incognito.  So I already have a good idea ...

Slipping and a Sliding

We are so lucky to have original hardwood floors in our 1927 home. In excellent condition, I’ve ended up in charge of their care.

As a pet owner, I Swiffer as well as sweep and steam my floors pretty regularly.  I like a nice shine and walk around my home barefoot a lot, so debris free floors matter to me

Automation Irritation

I avoid self check out.

Though I have given in on occasion, I find that the checkouts don’t work all that well, making it take longer than it should.  It also irritates me that I am paying retail and getting no service. Plus though low paying, those are jobs lost while the corporation makes more money for less service.

Those Small Purchases Add Up

As independent business owners, whenever we go thru financial dry periods, we are reminded of our small expenses. We master our expenses for awhile and then when business picks up, we forget our hard won victories. Those small $2-$5 expenses can wreck a budget.

A Bargain Bust

Often while checking out outlets with steep discounts of 40%-90% off retail, I have to stop myself from shopping.

Generally, I yawn at 20% savings. I take note at 30%, I pay attention at 40% and am likely to look at 50% off original retail. Though I try to be careful, I will buy, regardless of need, at 80% off.

Friends Who Pay Full Retail

I am often perplexed by people who ONLY pay retail, ONLY buy at Boutiques and Department Stores.

Believe it or not, I have had several friends who only pay retail. They live in the best neighborhoods and eat at the trendiest restaurants. These guys only buy brand new, latest and trendiest at top dollar.
