Furniture Consignment and More

By Suzanne O'Connor

I love furniture consignment stores. As a creative DIY-er and an antique hound, consignment stores are one of the best places to haunt for stellar deals in home furnishings and décor. So when I spotted a sign that actually said furniture consignment while driving around Long Beach, I executed a fast U turn.

Furniture Consignment & More is a delightful shop with an eclectic selection of home furnishings from antiques to urban modern….and everything in between at savings of 10% -60% below market.

Browsing here is fun. An Urban Home styled, solid wood coffee table with 2 matching side tables in mint condition was a steal at just $200. This would retail at near $950 new. A 1970s chest of drawers was in need of a some TLC, but a just a $100, it’s perfect DIY-er project.  A nice large ottoman covered in a rich tapestry was well priced at $350 instead of $500. A 1940’s shell back side chair was in near mint condition at $200. A large, antique, metal and brass Bakers Rack had a great patina to it and at $250 was well priced. A leather sofa and love seat set worn just the right amount was another deal at $550 for both. Market would be at $800 in this used condition and original retail was around $3500.

I liked the used 1940’s kitchen hutch at $300. Market is around $425. Though rough around the edges, there was nothing a coat of paint wouldn’t fix. An antique 1940’s bedroom set with bed, dressing table, and dresser w/ mirror was well priced at $1300. Market is closer to $1600. A Shabby Chic green twin bed frame was $200. A large 1980’s display case was another good buy at $300 instead of $500-$600. There are funky knic knacs, artwork, lighting and tabletop décor items here too that are both vintage and dated as well as near mint at the same reasonable pricing.

Not everything here is in mint condition. There are some pieces that needed some attention. But everything here is in working order. Here you can let your creative juices flow. Consignment split is 50/50 and after 30 days they will start reducing the price.

This is a great new addition to the home furnishings and vintage shopping scenes. Creative shoppers should add it to their list of must stops.
