When I worked myself through college, saving pennies became an art form. I
learned a lot about squeezing every last penny out of every last
dollar.
Outside of food and transportation, saving on textbooks was always
the biggest challenge. But with the internet you can use just one
site to help you find the best prices on used textbooks. Cheapesttextbooks.com
is more like a search engine than an online bookseller. Here you
search for your college textbook using the book's title, author,
keyword or ISBN code. Then their “Multi-Store Searcher”
will search multiple online bookstores for both the book and the
cheapest price. You’ll find out the books price and condition
(new or used). Plus the search engine will automatically give you
a coupon code if one is available.
Since I didn’t have any specific titles, I did a search for
biology and came up with Biology 7th edition by Neil A. Campbell
and Jane B. Reece. List price was $137. The search came up with
several different prices from $89.99-$131.41 from well known websites
like Overrstock.com and Amazon.com.
I then did another search under Chemistry and came up with Chemistry:
The Central Science - Ninth Edition (with a CD-ROM). The list price
is $148. Their search came up with many different choices from $29.99
at Half.com to $148 at Amazon.
Though this website may not be the end all in your search for textbooks
it should be the first starting place to find a better price.
