Suzanne's New Finds

The Linen Outlet

When the Stroud’s Outlet stores were in business, they were a terrific source for bedding and linens at discounted pricing. Their demise earlier this last summer left Southern California with a gap in sources for linens at a deal. But gaps in the market place create new opportunities and smart businesses will fill ‘em.

Such is the case with the old location of Stroud’s Outlet at Beverly Blvd and Crescent Heights in West Hollywood. A new division of Anna’s Linens has moved in called the Linen Outlet… and it’s great!

A full range of bedding, linens, tabletop and bathroom items fill this well lit, well organized, well staffed store and the prices are 30%-70% below retail on both lower end and higher end linens. You’ll find the brands here your so very familiar with along with high end, high quality that we all want… at a lower price. The buyers at Anna’s Linens are a savvy bunch and they use their expertise and connections to snag closeouts, end of mill run and overrun deals. (Why hadn’t Anna’s Linens done this before?)

Wamsutta, Fieldcrest, Linen N Things, Royal Velvet, Cannon, Martex, Charisma, Synergy, Spring Maid, Pacific were quickly spotted. With PillowTex going out of business in August, the opportunistic buys on Royal Velvet, Charisma, Cannon and Fieldcrest are pretty good everywhere you go, but The Linen Outlet had the biggest selection and steepest discounts I had seen yet.

The  “Court Of Versailles” line by Fieldcrest had superb buys. Beautiful white and off white bedding and sheet sets in 250tc 100% cotton with 2”-4” of lace trim. King Pillowcases are $9.99. Full-King sheet sets are $29.99. Hello…these were over $100 four months ago. Duvet covers were $99 and comforters were $49.99. A Charisma duvet comforter cover in a heavy brocade fabric was only $49. Original retail was over $200. A Royal Velvet “Bed In A Bag” was $99.

Elegance in bedding is so hip now, here is downright affordable. A Duponi, 100% Silk  Duvet cover by Wright Home Fashions originally priced at Stroud’s Outlet for $169. Now it’s $99. A gorgeous  Sherry Kline comforter set you’d see at Bloomies for $350 is here at $99. In the ultra high end, Synergy’s “Connoisseur” line is reputed to be 100% combed cotton in 1000tc.  It’s a 2 ply thread…they have a second thread wrapped around the first, so it’s really 500tc. Either way these sheets sets are a great buy at $199 instead of $350-$400.

Better mid level bedding is here also with a Chenille duvet cover at $39 instead of $169, A Custom Comfort Queen Duvet is $49 with a duvet set at $99.  Arrow Home comforter set in a cool blue brocade was $99 instead of $150. Toss accent pillows ran $7.99-$19.99. A Royal Velvet Balloon Valance was cheaper than I recently saw at Big Lots at $6.99.

There are other lines here at great prices. I giggled when I saw the closeout from Linen N Things in cotton sheet set. All their (LNT) tags say “Compare at…” when no one else carried the product. This Linens N Things 100% cotton sheet set retailed at Linens N Things for $79.99 in a full/Queen. Here it’s better at $34-$49.  A Wamsutta Elite sheet set in 100% cotton at 250tc was a super price at $29.99. Ross had this set for $39. Retail was way over $60. Some Spring Maid bath towels were priced to move at $3.99. Original retail $12-$16.  Some 100% Egyptian cotton towels by Pacific were also priced at $5.99.

Curtain panels, shower curtains, dishes and other accessories are available too at some good pricing. You will see some Anna’s Linens items here and some imports but with the deals in the better quality it’s worth poking around. You won’t be at a loss for sales help either…they’re everywhere!

Inventory moves pretty fast here for obvious reasons. Truck loads come in weekly. Linen Outlet is a true bargain find for deals on better bedding and linens. Whether you’re a linen hog…or not, you’re gonna love it!

Of Note:
When Anna’s Linens took over this location, they didn’t fire the sales staff or management but kept them on. Nice to hear there are companies out there with ethical values.
