Dog Days of Summer

This last week, with the muggy heat, I felt like I got hit over the head with a brick.

We are trying to lower our electrical bill. With our two offices and all our computers running everyday, we regularly have what I consider to be a good-sized electric bill.  So we didn’t crank our central air at 77-78 like we have in the past. We set it at 81.  It still felt much cooler inside than outside. But if you moved around at all, you’d sweat.

In Retail, the Gray Market refers to items that are sold outside the normal channels.

The Gray Market is where many bargains are found.  Places like independent outlets, liquidation companies, off price sellers, re-sellers, swap meets, jobbers etc. Items at theses sources generally don’t come with manufacturer warranties, but are priced much lower

Goofing Off at the Surplus Store

We went out to research a store this past weekend, and when we got there they had closed early because it was a Holiday Weekend. Really….

With time on our hands, we stop into a local Burbank Navy/ Army Surplus, The Supply Sergeant. Army Surplus stores are great. Prices are always pretty low on fun basic items from tees to jeans and earthquake supplies to fatigues.

Estate Sale Shopping

Some of the best bargains I have ever seen have been at Estate Sales. You can find one of a kind heirlooms, antiques, collectible signed artwork, vintage home furnishings, vintage clothing and accessories and as well as newer household appliances, gadgets, tools, necessities, clothing and jewelry at a pittance of original retail or what they would run at an antique dealer or collectible shop
